In the past days the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) released the 2017 issue of the International Energy Outlook (IEO). Of course this should not be confused with the World Energy Outlook (WEO), which is produced by the International Energy Agency (IEA)… although the very similar acronyms may really be misleading!

The WEO is normally considered the most authoritative publication in the energy sector, however the IEO is an important publication as well, so it may be interesting to give a look at the scenarios reported therein (… even if units in quadrillions British Thermal Units & co. do not help!). By the way, the 2017 issue of the WEO will be released on November 14: it will be interesting to compare the two reports.
