The International Energy Agency (IEA) regularly releases very interesting reports on the global energy landscape. A new document was produced in the past days, this time focusing on energy investment.

News is not good, actually. The following statement by Fatih Birol, IEA Executive Director, clearly summarizes the main outcome of the report:

“The decline in global investment for renewables and energy efficiency combined could threaten the expansion of clean energy needed to meet energy security, climate and clean-air goals. While we would need this investment to go up rapidly, it is disappointing to find that it might be falling this year.”

The webpage reports a great overview of the main findings, and in particular it shows very interesting graphs: it is really worth spending some minutes to give a look at it. The full report can also be freely downloaded.
