International interview

International interview

Another quite special day yesterday in my open space here in Berkeley! I am working with my laptop when I notice that something is going on around Nikki’s desk (she’s a colleague of mine). Microphone, video camera, interviewer… Before I can even start investigating, Nikki has finished her interview and has started introducing the other RAEL members to the interviewer: apparently other researchers are welcome! While the ball is passed to Chris (another colleague of mine), I manage to get information from the staff, and I discover that it is the Kazakh television, which has been producing a program for the International Exposition that is to be held in Astana (Kazakhstan’s capital) in the next months and whose motto is, unsurprisingly, Future Energy.

As soon as I say “Milan, Expo 2015”, I get a microphone 🙂 After an introduction on who I am and what I do in Berkeley, the questions become broader and involve issues like the Italian energy and environmental policies and what we are going to show at the Italian pavilion in Astana. Not straightforward questions indeed, especially if made on the spot with no preparation, but I think I managed to get by quite well 🙂

I hope I will be able to retrieve a link for my interview: in the meantime, here’s a photographic proof!

PS. Unfortunately I could not visit the Kazakh pavilion in Milan: I went to Expo 2015 twice, but in both cases there was a huge queue, which I regret because it was one of the most interesting pavilions, apparently. It’s a pity also because I could have talked about that during my interview, and the whole experience would have been even nicer, but never mind!
